WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A SESSION WITH ME

Before the photo session- You know your family best, and I want to be sure to come when everyone is well rested, fed, and ready to be social.  After we have decided on a date and time, I will send you a contract as well as a questionnaire.  This will help me understand more about you and tailor the session to encourage interaction and giggles!  
Our photo session will last from one to two hours, and costs $250. Knowing the rough economic times we are in, though, I understand that it may feel that my cost is prohibitive.  If you are excited about getting photos of your family, but can’t really spend that money right now, let me do what I can to work with you.  Do not hesitate to email me about this.  
Being there for an extended period of time allows sufficient time for changing a diaper, feeding a fussy baby, getting everyone used to being photographed, etc.  This time will also allow for us to go to different places.  Maybe there is a playground nearby that you go to often, or a pond that your dog likes to jump into; wherever you like to go together is a place we should go.  Basically, know that I will stay there until I feel like I have a variety of looks to work from that captures your personality.  

During our session
A session with me is far from the typical studio session you have likely done in the past.  What I want to capture is your family dynamic, I want to see and photograph the ways you make each other giggle, I want to see your favorite activities, I want to see how you spend your time together.  It is in these moments where the magic happens.  Being dressed up in your best clothes, looking blankly at the studio photographer, is not an image I want to produce.  I want to provide memories, not just pictures.  I want to photograph you in the home you have made together.  In 5, or 10, or 20 years, I want you and your family to look back on these photos and see a snapshot of that moment, to see that special toy or blanket, to remember the house you were living in at the time.  The most important thing to remember here is that I have no expectations, no standard photo I want your family to fit in.  I want you to be yourself.  

 Rarely do I want to stage these photos.  I would be happiest if you could just let me in, then immediately forget I was there.  These moments are the ones that will shape your whole family, the moments that are important in your child’s development.  I want to stay in the background, only occasionally requesting that you lift up your chin or turn a little more my way, or maybe suggesting we move to a different location.  Beyond that, the best photos come from natural interaction, so I just keep back on the periphery, witnessing and photographing.

The photos from our session will be availble to view and order within two weeks.
All of your photos will be posted to a personal website.  Through this site, you can order prints from a high quality, professional lab I have found.  They offer a variety of prints, products (magnets, prints on canvas, stickers, etc.), and digital files whose color and quality is what you would expect from a professional lab.  My prices are very affordable, 4x6 prints start at only seventy five cents, 5x7s are only $3.99, 8x10’s are $10.99, and so on.  Prints typically arrive between 5-10 business days after you order them through the site, unless you choose expedited shipping.
